How Following Works

Estimated time: 4 minAudience: Business Owners

See how customers follow your claimed business, where the follower count lives, and how updates and events reach them.

Following lets customers keep up with a claimed business. You see how many people follow you. They see your live updates and upcoming events. You do not see who they are.

Steps

  1. Claim an active business

Customers can follow a business only after it is active and claimed. Claim your listing and wait for approval before you expect a Follow button.

Markets, stadiums, ATMs, bus stations, and heritage sites do not get a business Follow button. A shop inside a market can, when that shop is its own claimed business.

  2. Customers tap Follow

On your public business page, customers see Follow. After they follow, the button says Following.

If they are signed out, Funafuna sends them to sign in and brings them back to your page. The follow is saved only after they sign in. Leaving the sign-in page does not follow your business.

The heart in the header is this same Follow control. It is not a separate bookmark.

  3. Read the follower count

Open your Vendor Dashboard and stay on Overview. The Followers number is how many customers follow this business.

You see the count only. Funafuna does not show follower names, emails, or phone numbers.

  4. Publish an update

Open Updates in the vendor dashboard. Write a title and message, choose an expiration (up to 30 days), then Preview and Publish.

Save draft keeps the message private. Customers do not see drafts or expired updates.

Followers find live updates under Profile → Updates.

  5. Connect an upcoming event

Events you publish from the dashboard Events tab are the same events on Explore → Events. While an event is still upcoming, it also appears on your business page and in a follower’s Updates inbox.

The inbox does not send push, email, or WhatsApp. Customers open Updates in the app.

FAQs

Why is there no Follow button on my page?

Follow appears only on an active, claimed business. If the listing is still unclaimed, not active, or it is a place such as a market, stadium, ATM, bus station, or heritage site, there is no business Follow control.

Can I see who follows me?

No. The dashboard shows the follower count for businesses you manage. It does not list customer names, emails, or phone numbers.

What is the difference between Followers and Favorites?

On a business, Follow is the relationship. The heart in the header is Follow, and those customers are the Followers count. Older bookmarks are kept and treated as follows. Places that are not businesses, and events, can still be saved separately.

Do followers get a text or WhatsApp when I publish?

No. A published update or upcoming event appears in their Funafuna Updates inbox. Push, email, and WhatsApp are not sent from Follow.
